This gift will give a vulnerable person £10 a week to buy what they need to support themselves and their families - from warm clothes for the winter, toiletries, a food shop or bus fare to get to an appointment.
We support 15,000 vulnerable refugees, migrants and people seeking asylum each year, and we’ve seen how providing cash can empower someone to feel in control of their future by choosing what they need most.
Nawal was just 16 when she was forced to leave her home behind in Somalia. She knows all too well the struggles of being a young refugee in the UK, and how it’s hard to make ends meet if you’re not able to work.
“When we come here, we don’t have a family and we want to work so we can get money and buy food. You get £5.39 a day but the bus pass itself is around £4.10 and you don’t have enough money left for food. Some people have their family here too - how can you feed your mother, your son, your wife with your £5.39? You can’t. It’s not humanity.”
Gifts of kindness are changing the lives of refugees and people seeking asylum across the UK, thanks to you.
